Design of the cooling system of a speed ice skating track (3 499 kW screw compressors with a glycol temperature of -16,6°C / -18°C) and of the air cooling of its building (2 1457 kW centrifugal compressors with a glycol temperature of +11 / +6°C). The system is condensated with five evaporative towers and powered by 32 pumps, some of whose equipped with inverters.
Even if the technical room was limited, both in surface and height, we managed to design an efficient layout, with the minimum required space for maintenance operations, such as disassembling the long internal units of the chillers.
The glycol with a temperature of -18 °C is used to freeze the water for the ice skating track and is distributed over 70 km of DN32 pipes, organized in eight manifolds. The water for the air cooling is delivered to six air treating units with, each, an air flow of 80000 m3/hour.
A great working experience, in a very limited time frame and in perfect coordination with all parts involved. The system runs perfectly fine.
